Prompts
Doesn't matter what it's supposed to mean.
I wasn't scared until I stood up.
Just got born.
Inside Problems
Last month I saw Andrew Bird perform at the Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago, for his annual Gezelligheid shows. After singing "Inside Problems," he told us the song was prompted in part by this Mick Stevens cartoon.
Inside My Dream Journal
I keep a green notebook next to my nightstand and write down my dreams as soon as they wake me up. I don't want to overstate the mystical benefits of this practice, but I think I've already done so by using the M word. I do think there are creative and grounding advantages to keeping track of your dreams – and they are the most entertaining notebooks to reread.
Below are some pictures of my current dream journal, soon to be completed or retired at the end of the year because my next dream journal has already arrived. (Thank you Fancy Chimpanzee.)
Everything’s a Folk Song?
This summer Ted gave me the prompt "folk music for fones" to use as the basis for a playlist. While that's how I started, I quickly veered towards noting the best songs I heard on free-form radio, regardless of the genre.
Here's the end of year playlist on Apple Music and Spotify. They're all bangers, of course.
We discuss the playlist and the stationery items we acquired over the holidays (like the Lousy Liner Recycled Ink pen and Craighill Kepler pen) on episode 169 of the podcast. - Adam
That middle of the night handwriting. :) Reminds me of when I'm falling asleep while journaling and just keep trying to write.
All bangers indeed. Great playlist Adam
